Designed by Michael Orren in 1991, Lake Forest Golf and Practice Center is situated among orange groves, beside Aliso Creek, and just west of the Saddle Back Mountains in Lake Forest, California. Our par 29 9-hole course features numerous mature trees, soft sand bunkers, and two on-course lakes. Conveniently located where the 5 and 405 freeways meet in southern Orange County, our easily walkable course layout offers a perfect introduction to the game for beginning golfers and juniors, while still delivering a challenge to the seasoned player. Our signature second hole is a 115-yard par 3, which plays over a lake to a green surrounded by mature sycamores with the creek wrapping round it. Additionally, true to its name, Lake Forest Golf and Practice Center has one of the best driving range and practice facilities in the area. The range is equipped with two tiers of matted stalls, 60 in total, as well as a natural turf hitting area open year round. When you purchase an e-range key, we offer discounts of up to 35% off the regular cost of balls. For fine-tuning and short game practice, Lake Forest Golf and Practice Center also provides a large, 9-hole putting green and five-bunker chipping area. Both the golf course and practice areas are night lit until 10:00 p.m. for convenient after work and evening play.

The layout includes well-placed water hazards — two serene lakes and a connecting creek — that frame the fairways and provide visual interest as well as strategic challenges, notably on the standout hole #2. The course is characterized by a moderate slope rating and a course rating around 52, reflecting an inviting level of difficulty suitable for developing playing skills. Natural features such as resident geese, egrets, and bluebirds enhance the ambiance and connection to the surrounding landscape, enriching each round with sights and sounds of local wildlife.

“This place is golf! You have the regulars, the newbs, the kids and families. Fun for all. I bring my 2 boys here often and me and my pops have been coming here for 15+ years. The course is usually in good shape especially for a training facility. I love the trees and character of the 9 hole course. They have a sweet lounge with some brewskis on tap! I have also had some tasty burgers and dogs when the bbq is out. The range is fun too with decent targets, plenty of quality mats and had good lighting at night. They even have Trackman on the top deck! They also have a grass range on the weekends which is rare to see for a public range. The guy Dave running the show has really done a lot for this place. I see smiling happy staff and that is very telling. They put on fun events all the time like mini tournaments, putting contest and even greens keepers revenge! Definitely check it out if you like golf and a good time.”
